Steny Hoyer remarked today that the GOP’s complete defiance towards anything the president supports leads to deadlocks, wasted time and devalues congress and further, the presidency.
He’s right.
On one side of the senate, for example, you have 60 democrats who will debate the issues. Included in that number are the blue dogs, conservative democrats.
On the other, you have 40 No votes for any legislation under this president.
So instead of a fully functioning senate, we require unanimous consent (all 60 democrats) to GET ANYTHING DONE.
